Tonight a star was born, or at least revealed at the most revered of destinations, Carnegie Hall.

From the moment the Canadian Ken Lavigne opened his mouth and started singing I almost had to pinch myself. Mr. Lavigne strolled on stage started singing “Granada” and I was immediately hooked. His voice seemed to be liquid gold, a pure lyric sound that had surprising undertones in his unforced lower range. While it was always excellent, there were times when the focus was so precise as to soothe and excite at the same time.
Ken Lavigne – Canadian Tenor makes Carnegie Hall Debut
By Oscar E Moore - Talk Entertainment New York
Thursday evening, January 22, 2009, at 8:00 Canadian tenor Ken Lavigne made his lifelong dream come true by singing at Carnegie Hall. This is a tenor whose time has come. A tenor who has all that is needed to soar to the top of his field. A tenor to be internationally recognized as one of the best. The timbre of his high notes. The strength and mellowness of his low tones. His controlled vibrato and crystal clear falsetto. What a voice! What a performer!

Lead tenor Ken Lavigne, in the role of Samson, was spellbinding
Terry Glavin – The Tyee
There are several disturbing scenes in Samson. Samson himself, played by Island tenor Ken Lavigne, has his eyed gouged and bandaged and legs shackled throughout the work. Lavigne, a handsome man with a handsome voice, is the perfect fit for the fallen hero. We root for him to rise above, have an epiphany and make way for a happy ending. But his despair is too much.

Conductor Charles Job hit a homer pairing his polished 28-piece orchestra with Chemainus tenor Ken Lavigne. Lavigne proved he could be called Canada’s Pavarotti.
Wednesday, October 18, 2006 – News Leader
Lavigne boasts a naturally beautiful, powerful tenor voice. When he sings a favourite like Granada – sailing up and down a thrilling crescendo – it is just plain exhilarating.
Adrien Chamberlian – Times Colonist
He’s got the looks. He’s got the charm. And he’s most certainly got the voice. There’s no denying the crossover appeal of local… operatic tenor Ken Lavigne. …his superlative voice [is] on an international level.
